The Redmi 15C 4G largely inherits its features from the Redmi 14C, but it brings some notable upgrades. The new model features a bigger battery, faster charging, and improved build quality, along with the latest software and a slightly larger display. Although the front-facing camera is a downgrade, the quality of selfies has actually improved.
And when stacked against its main competitors—the Tecno Spark 40 and Infinix Hot 60i—the Redmi 15C 4G stands out with its superior build quality, a larger battery, and a more stunning and spacious display. Despite these advantages, the Redmi's design is unappealing. It also lacks certain key features found on rival devices, including stereo speakers and an IR blaster.

Price And Design Colours.
The Redmi 15C 4G is available in various colour options of Moonlight Blue, Mint Green, Midnight Gray, and Twilight Orange. Starting price of the base version (4GB/128GB) of the phone is around $103.

Design And Box Contents:
Inside the box of the Redmi 15C 4G, you get the phone itself, a charger, a USB-C cable, and a TPU case. But, as with previous Redmi budget phones, earphones are not included in the box. In contrast, the two competitors come with earphones included.

Boasting a 6.9-inch display, the Redmi 15C enters the market with a screen size that is exceptionally large for its category. However, this is only marginally bigger than the 6.88-inch display of the Redmi 14C. The latest device also retains the thick bezels and traditional notch we've become accustomed to on Redmi's entry-level phones. The flat sides and rear panel are also similar to the previous model.

Despite these similarities, the 15C distinguishes itself from its predecessor with a rectangular and minimalistic camera bump, a stark contrast to the large circular module on the back of the earlier phone. However, the previous model's circular module arguably gave it a more premium look than the new Redmi 15C.

Nonetheless, one thing i really like about the Redmi 15C's design is its enhanced build quality. For instance, while the Redmi 14C's display was susceptible to breaks and cracks—and i've seen a few cases myself—due to its lack of a built-in screen protector (and none was included in the box), the one on the 15C is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. This enhancement is particularly noteworthy given the latest device's larger display.

Furthermore, the Redmi 15C also boasts an IP64 certification, a significant upgrade from its predecessor's lack of an official IP rating. This means the device is both dust-tight and resistant to water splashes. Although the competitors also have an IP64 certification, none of them offer Corning Gorilla Glass protection on the front.

Meanwhile, the Redmi 15C features a more conventional port and button layout compared to the 14C. The 3.5mm audio jack, which was on the top of the previous model, has been moved to the bottom, where it sits next to a microphone, a USB Type-C port, and a mono speaker. The volume keys and side-mounted fingerprint sensor (integrated into the power button) remain on the right side, with the 3-in-1 SIM tray on the left. This tray accommodates two nano-SIM cards and a microSD card. Consequently, the top of the device is now completely bare.

Basic Cameras, Yet Impressive Photography:
The Redmi 15C 4G keeps its predecessor’s 50MP main lens and a QVGA or auxiliary lens. However, the 2MP macro lens is missing from the latest phone. The new device also comes with an 8MP selfie lens, which, as i mentioned, is a downgrade from the 13MP lens on the earlier model.  It is worth noting that the Redmi 15C's camera specifications are identical to those of its direct competitors.
Meanwhile, the Redmi 15C's camera performance is identical to its predecessor's. Photos are notably clear and detailed. While they may not rival the remarkable detail of photos from more expensive budget phones, the overall clarity is impressive for its class. Furthermore, the dynamic range is strong, and portrait shots are quite decent.
Also upon closer look, the shots from the Redmi 15C shows an improvement in colour accuracy. In other words, the 15C photos have more true to life colours than those from the 14C. However, the overall clarity remains unchanged. While the competing devices deliver similarly detailed and appealing photos, the Redmi 15C's shots stood out when it came to dynamic range.

Turning to the front. As expected, selfies from the Redmi 15C's 8MP front-facing camera are not as detailed as those from the main camera, but they maintain the impressive clarity and good colour reproduction. While the competing phones with the same 8MP front camera also produced good-looking selfies, the ones from the Redmi 15C stand out with their more accurate skin tone and life like colours.
With both its front and rear cameras, the Redmi 15C 4G can shoot videos up to 1080p at 30fps (frames per second). And there's no form of video stabilization. By the way, despite having the same camera set-up, the main competitors can shoot videos up to 2K at 30fps. But they offer no stabilization too.

A Larger Display With Decent Colour Reproduction, But The Usual 720p Pixels.
The Redmi 15C's 6.9-inch display is fundamentally similar to the 6.88-inch display on the Redmi 14C. It is also an IPS-LCD and features a 720p resolution. Although the new device's horizontal pixel count is slightly lower (1600 as opposed to 1640), the resulting difference in pixel density is minimal and virtually imperceptible (254ppi vs 260ppi). These pixel densities are notably low for displays of this size, meaning the overall sharpness and clarity of the Redmi 15C's screen, much like its predecessor's, are underwhelming. Unfortunately, you also get the same level of clarity on the competitors and other devices at this price point. Because they, too, are stuck with 720p resolutions. On the bright side, the Redmi 15C does offer a high screen refresh rate of 120Hz, a feature it shares with its predecessor and many others.

While the Redmi 15C's display has a 720p resolution and supports a 120Hz refresh rate, putting it in line with others in this segment, it stands out with its better colour reproduction. Colours appear more vibrant and appealing on the Redmi 15C's display. Unlike many of its competitors, the Redmi 15C also includes a colour scheme profile in its display settings, which allows you to adjust the screen's colours to your preference. However, it lacks an Always-On Display (AOD), a feature found on the competing models.
Furthermore, the Redmi phone's display has a slightly lower peak brightness compared to its competitors. Still, it is noticeably bright enough for most indoor and outdoor lighting conditions. Under direct sunlight, however, the display's performance is poor, a drawback it shares with the competitors.

Latest Software, But Same Processing Power.
The Redmi 15C 4G ships with the latest HyperOS 2.0, which is based on Android 15. While competing phones also run on Android 15, their future OS update support is uncertain. The Redmi 15C, however, is expected to receive up to two years of Android OS updates.
However, when it comes to AI, the Redmi 15C 4G doesn't have much to show off, save for the built-in Google Gemini assistant and one other. This places the phone at a disadvantage compared to its rivals, which boast five or more unique AI features. While future software updates may bring additional AI functionalities to the Redmi 15C 4G, this is not a guarantee.

Concerning its hardware, the Redmi 15C 4G is powered by the MediaTek Helio G81 Ultra. This is the same processor that is inside the Redmi 14C and two competing phones. As a result, the  performance of the 15C is similar to those of the three phones.
By the way, the Helio G81U is a 12nm entry-level processor with clock speeds of up to 2.0GHz. For its GPU (Graphics Processing Unit), the processor utilizes the Mali-G52 MC2.
The Redmi 15C offers flexible storage options. You can get a base model with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, or step up to the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage version. No matter which one you choose, you can expand the internal storage with a microSD card all the way up to 2TB (two terabytes).

Meanwhile, since this is a budget phone, it's no surprise that the Redmi 15C flies through basic stuff like social media and light games. It's a different story with more challenging tasks, like serious multitasking or video editing. It can get the job done, but you'll notice a bit of a slowdown. The real struggle begins with high-end gaming. While the phone can still run some big-name games, you'll have to sacrifice smooth frame rates and turn down the graphics settings to get them to work.

Bigger Battery And Increased Fast Charging:
In addition to its bigger display, improved build quality, and decent camera, another key selling point of the Redmi 15C is its massive battery and faster charging speed. The phone is equipped with a robust 6,000mAh battery, which is substantially larger than the 5,160mAh cells in the Redmi 14C and the two competing devices. The charging speed has also been improved from 18W on the previous model to 33W. It is worth noting, however, that the two competing phones offer a faster 45W fast charging solution.
Meanwhile, with its 33W charger, included in the box, it will take you about an hour 39 minutes to fully charge the Redmi 15C's battery from zero percent.
