Itel Power P70 (P673L) Review, Price And Specifications.
The main highlight of the Itel P70 is its 10,000mAh—sorry, 6,000mAh battery capacity, plus a 4,000mAh power bank cleverly embedded in a protective casing. Also, unlike most other new entry-level budget phones, the Itel P70 features reverse wired charging and is powered by a newly unveiled CPU. Additionally, the phone has an IP (Ingress Protection) rating. Although phones with IP ratings are becoming increasingly common at this price point. Moreover, the other features of the Itel P70 are similar to those of competing phones. And while we’ve seen a few entry-level budget phones launch with the latest Android OS, this Itel device comes with an older version, and there’s no assurance of receiving major software updates. Furthermore, the P70 doesn't have the best camera system at this price point.
Itel P70 Design:
There’s nothing particularly exciting or refreshing about the Itel P70’s design, but the phone still looks good.
It features a 6.67-inch hole-punch display, with flat sides and a flat back cover. Like most low-end budget phones, it has thick bezels around the display, and its frame and back cover are made of plastic. Still, the phone sports an attractive metallic glossy finish.
However, other color options—such as black—are less visually appealing. On the plus side, those alternatives aren’t as much of a fingerprint magnet as this glossy version.
On the back of the Itel P70 are three vertically arranged rings. At first glance, i mistook them all for camera sensors, but the phone actually has only two rear cameras. The third ring houses an infrared remote controller, which allows the phone to function as a remote control for electronic appliances.
Backup Battery or Power Bank:
Speaking of the backup battery—which is the phone's main highlight—the Itel P70 comes with two protective rubber casings: one standard and the other with a built-in battery. In details, the second casing includes a 4,000mAh integrated battery. And just like the Itel P70 itself, the casing features a USB Type-C port for charging. When the phone is placed inside the power casing, the total available battery capacity increases to 10,000mAh.
Meanwhile, the ports and buttons are typical of other low-end budget phones. On the right side of the phone are the volume keys and the power button, which also doubles as a fingerprint reader. The left side houses the 3-in-1 4G nano-SIM tray.
The Itel P70 features a single speaker, located on the bottom edge of the phone, alongside a microphone, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The top edge of the Itel P70 is completely bare.
Display And Camera:
The 6.67-inch display on the Itel P70 features a familiar 720p resolution of 1600 by 720 pixels. While most other phones at this price point have similar displays, the one on this device is slightly brighter. Itel Mobile calls it "Sunbright," claiming a peak brightness of 700 nits.
However, under direct sunlight, the screen doesn’t quite seem to reach that peak. Still, as i mentioned, the display is a bit brighter than the average ones found on most low-end budget phones.
The P70 features a high screen refresh rate of 120Hz, allowing for smoother page scrolling and swiping. However, you can only choose between 120Hz and the default 60Hz—there's no 90Hz option in between.
In practice, though, the 120Hz refresh rate on the P70 display feels more like 90Hz. In other words, the fluidity and extra smoothness typically associated with a true 120Hz display seem to be lacking.
Decent Camera:
The Itel P70 dual back camera is made up of a 13MP main sensor and a 0.8MP auxiliary or QVGA sensor (which assist the main sensor in taking better-looking photos). And there's an 8MP camera on the front of the phone.
As expected from most phones in this segment, photos taken with both the front and rear cameras of the Itel P70 are not particularly detailed or impressive. Nonetheless, they are sharp and clear enough to get the job done. I particularly like how detailed the selfies taken with the phone appear. The photos also offer decent color rendition. However, like most other budget phones, you’ll need good lighting conditions to capture clear and bright photos with the Itel P70.
Also, like most others, the Itel P70 can only shoot videos up to 1080p resolution at 30fps (frames per second), with both its front and rear cameras though.
Though New CPU, But Same Ol' Android Version:
The Itel P70 is running the Itel OS 14.5 custom UI, based on the Android 14 Go Edition. If you would have preferred the latest Android 15 Go Edition, you should consider the Redmi A5. Additionally, Xiaomi promises up to two years of OS updates for the A5, but there’s no such assurance for the Itel device.
That said, the Itel P70 is powered by the new Helio G50 CPU. If I'm correct, this is the first time Itel Mobile has implemented a MediaTek processor in one of its low-end phones. Previously, Itel primarily used Unisoc chipsets in its low-end devices.
Our Itel P70 has 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The phone also comes in 6GB and 8GB of RAM variants. And while the 6GB of RAM variant is paired with 128GB of internal storage, the 8GB of RAM variant is paired with 256GB of internal storage. Still, whichever storage option you choose, you can still expand it, via microSD card, up to 1TB.
As i said, the new MediaTek Helio G50 CPU (that powered the Itel P70) is an entry-level processor. It's a 12nm Arm Cortex-A53 processor with clock speeds of up to 2.2Ghz. And it makes use of the PowerVR GE8320 as its GPU (Graphics Processing Unit).
So, despite its newness, the Helio G50 is a low-end processor. This implies that the Itel P70 is meant for day to day baisc tasks and light games. Still, in real life situation, the phone handles multitasking and video streaming (especially on social media) without much stress. But, if you're the type of person who likes to open multiple apps and jump in between them quickly, i'd say you should go for the 6GB RAM version of the phone. To ensure consistency and smoothness.
Screen Type: IPS-LCD Capacitive Touchscreen.
