Despite having similar specifications, the Infinix Hot 60i (X6728) stands out from its main rivals with its remarkably fast charging and feature-rich software package. To add to its value, the phone comes with all the necessary accessories right in the box.
By the way, the Infinix Hot 60i is essentially the same phone as last year's Infinix Hot 50i. However, the latest device offers a few notable upgrades, including an improved build quality, faster charging speed, a slightly bigger battery, and an IR blaster. The phone also comes pre-installed with the latest Android OS and new software features.
Meanwhile. The Hot 60i is the base model of the recently unveiled Infinix Hot 60 series. The more equipped Infinix Hot 60 Pro sits in the middle of the lineup, with the most feature-rich Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ occupying the top spot. Interestingly, while the two Pro models share similar sizes and features, the Hot 60i is closely aligned with the budget-friendly Infinix Smart 10, sharing nearly identical dimensions and specifications.
In a side-by-side comparison to the more affordable phone, the Hot 60i's only physical distinctions are its camera bump and a dedicated 'One-Tap' button (for Infinix virtual assistant).
Even feature-wise, the Hot 60i's key advantages are limited to a handful of areas: a better rear camera, a more powerful CPU, a faster charging speed, and a slightly larger battery.
Note: It is important to note that the Infinix Hot 60i's design and feature set are nearly identical to those of the Tecno Spark 40. Another phone that offers better value for money at this price point is the Xiaomi Redmi 15C.
Price And Design Colours:
The Infinix Hot 60i is available in various colour options of Sleek Black, Titanium Silver, Soul Eye Purple, Neon Red, Meadow Green, and Shadow Blue. Currently, the phone's starting price is around 144,840 Naira.
Familiar Design, Different Rear Camera, And One Tap Button:
Consistent with those of the Hot 60 Pro and 60 Pro+, the box of the Infinix Hot 60i ships with complete accessories inside: a 45W charger, a USB-C cable, a wired earpiece, and a protective TPU case. However, as i mentioned earlier, the phone's design is slightly different.
The Infinix Hot 60i features a 6.7-inch display, which is slightly smaller than the 6.78-inch displays of the Infinix Hot 60 Pro and Hot 60 Pro+. This is the same display size found on the Smart 10. Furthermore, the Hot 60i's flat sides and back cover are identical to the Smart 10's.
The two notable differences, as i mentioned earlier, are the Hot 60i's rear camera bump and a One-Tap button on its right side.
Nonetheless, the phone's camera bump looks exactly like those of the Hot 60 Pro and Hot 60 Pro+. This makes the back of the phone to mirror those of its two siblings'.
The camera bump, which is in the form of an elongated rectangle, is vertically positioned on the back of the phone. Inside the bump are three rings—two camera lenses and an IR blaster.
Although the more affordable Smart 10 also features a vertically positioned camera bump, it's notably shorter as it only accommodates two rings.
Except for its distinct camera bump, there is nothing else notable about the Hot 60i in terms of looks or design. The build quality, however, is good.
The Hot 60i boasts an IP64 rating—a significant upgrade from the Hot 50i's IP52—certifying the latest device as dust-tight and water-splash resistant. Additionally, it is capable of withstanding drops from heights of up to 1.5 metres.
Still, other recently released budget phones offer similar IP ratings and solid build quality. Besides, the Hot 60i, like most phones in its class, has a plastic build.
The Infinix Hot 60i's ports and buttons arrangement is standard. The bottom houses a 3.5mm audio jack, a USB Type-C port, a microphone, and one of the phone's DTS stereo speakers. The second speaker is at the top.
On the right side, you'll find the volume keys, a power button (with an integrated fingerprint sensor), and the One-Tap button. The 3-in-1 dual 4G nano-SIM tray is on the left of the phone.
Familiar Display, Improved Brightness:
The Infinix Hot 60i features a 6.7-inch IPS-LCD display with a 720p resolution (1600 x 720 pixels), a specification it shares with the Hot 50i and Smart 10. The display supports three refresh rate options—Auto-Switch, 60Hz (Default), and 120Hz (High)—to ensure smooth scrolling and visuals. It also includes an Always On Display (AOD) feature that shows a clock or wallpaper when the device is charging or idle.
The Hot 60i's display performance is in line with other budget phones. For instance, due to its 720p resolution and IPS-LCD panel, the display doesn't have the superior viewing angles, clarity, and vibrant colours of the 1080p AMOLED screens on the Hot 60 Pro and 60 Pro+. Still the display colour reproduction is decent, and its sharpness is more than sufficient for general video playback and social media use. The display is also noticeably brighter, even surpassing the one on the Hot 50i.
Still, performance in direct sunlight remains a challenge for the Hot 60i, a common issue among its peers. Though, a built-in feature called 'Outdoor Booster' provides a solution by cranking up the display's brightness. While this helps, the screen's clarity is still compromised, so don't expect a flagship-level experience outdoors.
Decent Camera:
The Infinix Hot 60i features a camera setup similar to its predecessor, with a key upgrade to the main sensor. The new model comes with a 50MP dual camera, a minor improvement over the Hot 50i's 48MP dual camera. However, the 8MP front-facing camera remains.
Given its price point, the Infinix Hot 60i's rear camera delivers a commendable performance. While the images lack the remarkable detail seen in photos from its more expensive siblings (and their competitors), they are surprisingly clear and sharp. Colour reproduction is decent and true to life, often rivaling that of its siblings. Both portrait shots and dynamic range also appear decent, although the dynamic range is not as strong as its siblings.
Turning to the front-facing camera, i found the selfies from the Infinix Hot 60i surprisingly impressive. Just like the ones taken with the less affordable Smart 10, selfies from the Hot 60i are unexpectedly clear and sharp. The front-facing camera also captures decent portrait shots and HDR photos, similar to the rear camera. Colour rendition also looks nice.
However, when compared to the ones taken with its more expensive two siblings, the Hot 60i's selfies seemed to have slightly saturated colours and skin tone. Yet they stand out against other phones in its category. By the way, it is important to note that for optimal results, photography should be taken in well-lit conditions.
The Infinix Hot 60's front and rear cameras can capture 2K video at 30fps; however, they do not offer image stabilization.
Latest Software Package:
The Infinix Hot 60i, like its two siblings, runs a full-feature version of Android 15 with Infinix XOS 15.1.1 custom UI on top. By contrast, the more affordable Smart 10—which shares the same design and basic features—comes with a slightly older version of the custom UI (15.1.0) and uses Android 15 Go Edition. There has been no official statement on whether the Hot 60i will receive future OS updates.
Meanwhile, in spite of its affordable price, the Hot 60i includes some AI features. While these features are more basic and limited than those found on the Hot 60 Pro, Hot 60 Pro+, and other premium budget phones, they still offer a valuable upgrade. The Hot 60 shares three core features with the Smart 10—Folax Voice (a DeepSeek R1-powered Infinix Voice Assistant), Document Assistant, and Writing Assistant—but adds one more advanced capability: an AI Wallpaper Generator.
There's another feature that Infinix calls UltraLink, which allows you to make free calls via Bluetooth. As expected, the range is short, less than 50 metres to be precise. Besides, you can only make calls to another Infinix phone that has UltraLink, or a Tecno phone with FreeLink (which is the same thing). Unfortunately, the app is not yet available to download on the Google Play Store.
While the Hot 60's AI feature count is not as high as that of its two siblings, it nonetheless exceeds the number of AI features found on most competing devices in this price bracket, with the notable exception of the Spark 40. The Tecno phone provides one or two additional AI features on top of those offered by the Hot 60i. But Spark 40 lacks the One-Tap button.
Familiar Hardware, Performance:
The Infinix Hot 60i uses the same MediaTek Helio G81 CPU as its predecessor, the Hot 50i. While this processor is not as powerful as the Helio G100 Ultimate in the Hot 60 Pro, it is still a better choice than the Unisoc T7250 found in the Smart 10, even though both chips deliver similar performance.
The Hot 60i's Helio G81 is a 12nm entry-level processor with clock speeds of up to 2.0GHz and an integrated Mali-G51 MP2 GPU.
The phone is available in 4GB and 8GB RAM variants. While the 4GB RAM variant is paired with 128GB of internal storage, the 8GB RAM variant is paired with 256GB of internal storage. As with others at this price point, the Hot 60i's internal storage can be expanded via a microSD card up to 2 terabytes (2TB).
Speaking of its performance. The 60i performs admirably for day-to-day use, offering a smooth and responsive experience for tasks like browsing and light gaming. It also manage moderately demanding tasks with minimal effort. Although the phone also manage to run some graphically demanding games, you will have to accept lower frame rates and make significant compromises to the graphics settings. The key point to note is that the Infinix Hot 60i is not designed for gaming or other demanding workloads.
Slightly Big Battery And Impressive Fast Charging:
Among the notable features that the Infinix Hot 60i shares with its siblings is a 5,160mAh battery and 45W fast charging. Apart from the fact that these are higher than the respective 5,000mAh battery and 18W fast charging of the Hot 50i, it's also rare to come across 45W fast charging on most phones at this price point. But almost all of them come with 5,160mAh batteries; some, like the Redmi 15C, even offer more bigger batteries.
Using the included 45W charger, the phone's battery can go from empty to full in just over an hour.
