The Samsung Galaxy A07 distinguishes itself from its main competitors with a more powerful CPU and a commitment to providing the longest period of OS updates. Furthermore, the device is equipped with a noise-cancelling microphone and is capable of capturing more lifelike photos.

However, the phone comes with a mono speaker and lacks some essential features, like an IR blaster, that are found on competitors. Additionally, while competitors offer some basic AI features, the Galaxy A07 has nothing to show off. The unboxing experience of the phone is also underwhelming.
By the way, the main competitors are the Tecno Spark 40, Infinix Hot 60i, and Xiaomi Redmi 15C.

That said. The Samsung Galaxy A07 preserves the looks and almost all the features of the Galaxy A06. However, the latest device comes with some significant upgrades, including a more powerful CPU, a high refresh rate display, enhanced build quality, and a redesigned camera module.

Price And Design Colours:
Samsung Galaxy A07 is available in colour options of Gray, Light Violet and Dark Green. Currently, the price of the base version is about 135,000 Naira.

Same Design, Deferent Camera Bump:
The unboxing experience of the Galaxy A07, like many of its Samsung counterparts, is rather minimal. The box contains only a USB-C to USB-C cable and accompanying documentation. Although some retailers provide a protective case and a 25W charger, these are not standard accessories included in the retail box. In contrast, most of its key competitors provide a complete set of accessories within their packaging.

That said. the Galaxy A07 presents no significant aesthetic departures from its predecessor. With the exception of a redesigned camera module, the latest device is identical to the Galaxy A06. It features the same familiar 6.7-inch U-notched display, flat sides, and flat rear panel, with all ports and buttons remaining in their previous locations. The A07's new camera bump is a vertically elongated design, which contrasts with the dual circular modules of the earlier model. Despite redesigned camera bump, the phone retains the same dual rear camera setup and LED flash as its predecessor.

In addition to its redesigned camera bump, the Galaxy A07 is a little slimmer (7.6mm vs 8.0mm) and lighter (184g vs 189g) than its predecessor. It also features enhanced build quality. The device boasts an official IP54 certification, a notable improvement over its predecessor's lack of a formal IP rating. This certification indicates resistance to dust and water splashes. It is worth noting, however, that most competing devices carry a more robust IP64 certification, despite having a comparable overall build quality.

As mentioned, the Galaxy A07's ports and buttons are unchanged from the previous model. The volume keys and power button (which doubles as a fingerprint reader) are on the right, and the 3-in-1 SIM tray (accommodating two 4G nano-SIMs and one microSD card) is on the left. The bottom houses a mono speaker, USB-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, and a microphone. The only thing on the top of the phone is the second, or noise-cancelling, microphone.

Same Display, But Higher Refresh Rate:
The Samsung Galaxy A07 is equipped with a 6.7-inch PLS-LCD panel that maintains the same 720p resolution (1600 x 720 pixels) as the Galaxy A06 and other previous models. Consequently, its visual clarity and sharpness remain as the earlier ones. The latest iteration, however, introduces a 90Hz screen refresh rate. Although this falls short of the 120Hz standard seen on many competing and more recent budget phones, it represents a significant improvement in fluidity over the 60Hz panels used previously.

That said, the overall picture quality of the A07's display is consistent with that of its competitors and most other budget devices featuring a 720p resolution. While its sharpness and clarity may not be its strong suit, they are sufficient for media consumption and reading. Even, upon closer inspection, the display exhibits a marginal increase in crispness and colour vibrancy.
Due to its vibrant colour reproduction and a peak brightness of approximately 800 nits, the display performs well under most lighting conditions. Nonetheless, it struggles to remain visible in direct sunlight, a common drawback in this market segment.

Same Camera Setup, Improved Image Quality
The Galaxy A07 is equipped with a camera configuration identical to that of its predecessor. The setup comprises a 50MP primary sensor, a 2MP depth sensor, and an 8MP front-facing camera. While competing models feature a similar camera array, the Galaxy A07 stands out with its dedicated depth sensor.

The A07 preserves the commendable picture quality of its predecessor. The resulting photos are clear, moderately detailed, and vivid. Consistent with Samsung's other budget-friendly devices, colours are slightly saturated but remain faithful to reality. Furthermore, the dynamic range is decent, and portrait shots are pleasing.

Selfies captured by the A07's front-facing camera are also noticeably clear and vibrant. In fact, they appear marginally brighter than the images from the rear camera. Still, the dynamic range is respectable, colour rendition is satisfactory, and skin tones are rendered well.

It's worth noting that competitors deliver similarly impressive photos. In fact, for a casual viewer, there is little to no difference between the shots from the Samsung phone and its rivals. But if you're a keen-eyed enthusiast, you'll find the Samsung photos to be slightly more vibrant and brighter, with a slightly wider dynamic range. The colours, too, are a little more vivid and lifelike.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy A07 is capable of recording video at a maximum resolution of 1080p at 30fps with both its front and rear cameras. While the Redmi 15C is also limited to 1080p, both the Tecno Spark 40 and Infinix Hot 60i support video recording up to 2K resolution at 30fps. It is worth noting that none of these devices, including the Galaxy A07, offer video stabilization.

Software: A Commitment to Longevity.
The Galaxy A07 ships with One UI 7.0 on top of Android 15, and Samsung guarantees up to 6 years of OS updates and 7 years of security patches—a software commitment unrivaled by its competitors. However, while rival phones include a number of AI features, the A07 does not. The A07's more powerful CPU, however, may enable Samsung to introduce such functionalities in a future update.

Hardware: Superior CPU, Same RAM & Storage Configuration.
As i said, apart from its industry-leading commitment to Android OS updates, another core strength of the Samsung Galaxy A07 is its processor. The device is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 CPU, which is superior to the Helio G81 utilized in the competing models and the previous Galaxy A06. This CPU is both more powerful and more power-efficient, courtesy of its 6nm process technology, in contrast to the Helio G81's 12nm architecture. The G99 is also equipped with a more capable Mali-G57 MP1 GPU, a notable upgrade over the Mali-G52 paired with the G81.

However, the device's RAM and internal storage configurations are consistent with its predecessor and most rival models. The Galaxy A07 is offered in 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB RAM configurations, with internal storage options of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. The 128GB storage variant is paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, whereas the 64GB variant is exclusively paired with 4GB of RAM. The 256GB variant with 8GB of RAM is not readily available in this region. Nonetheless, the Galaxy A07's storage capacity can be expanded up to 2TB via a microSD card.

In terms of performance, the Galaxy A07 provides a fluid and responsive user experience. The device handles routine tasks such as web browsing, social media, and multitasking without issue. Its superior CPU also enables it to manage moderately demanding tasks more effectively than its competitors and the earlier Galaxy A06. However, as expected, the phone exhibits some limitations when running graphics-intensive games. Although it is capable of launching many popular titles, a reduction in graphical quality and frame rates is necessary to ensure playable performance.

In other words, the Samsung Galaxy A07 is best suited for everyday use rather than serious gaming or other demanding applications. That said, if you plan to push the phone occasionally, its strong CPU is certainly up to the task. But, to get the most out of it and ensure a smooth experience, you should definitely choose the 6GB RAM version.

Same Battery, Same Fast Charging, Yet Slightly Better Battery Life:
While the Galaxy A07 retains its predecessor's 5,000mAh battery and 25W fast charging, it delivers a marginal improvement in battery longevity. This can be attributed to a more power-efficient processor and a more highly optimized software configuration. Overall, the A07 provides a commendable battery life that even surpasses that of its competitors.

However, all competing devices compensate for this with bigger batteries. Chief among them is the Redmi 15C, which is equipped with an unrivalled 6,000mAh battery. In addition to their larger batteries, all competing phones support faster charging speeds, and almost all of them feature reverse wired charging—a feature that is missing on the Galaxy A07.
Meanwhile, using the optional 25W Samsung charger provided by the retailer, the Galaxy A07 went from zero to 100% in roughly 1 hour and 30 minutes.
