Infinix Smart 7 Plus (X6517) is the recently unveiled budget android phone from the Infinix Mobility, and it's the latest model of the Smart Series.
At an affordable price, Infinix Smart 7 Plus present the buyers with many appealing features such as an octa-core CPU, high RAM, high storage capacity and bigger battery. The phone also comes with a USB Type-C port and loaded with the recent software.
In fact, if not for its low quality camera and not so impressive 720p display, Infinix Smart 7 Plus can be categorized as more expensive android phones. Because the phone also wear a more premium looks.
Even, with its regular 720p display and below average camera set-up, the screen of the Smart 7 Plus look nice and photos taken with the phone also look decent.

And talking about its design. Infinix Smart 7 Plus wear a more appealing and classier looks than the last year's Infinix Smart 6 Plus (X6511G). Though Smart 7 Plus still has a 6.6-inch notched-display and the same aspect ratio as the previous phone, but the latest phone comes with flat edges and a huge premium-looking camera bump. The familiar Smart Series pattern on the back of the earlier phone, and prior models, has also been replaced with a bumpy wavy pattern.
And it's the modifications that caused Infinix Smart 7 Plus to looks different and more appealing than the earlier model, and the prior ones.

On the back of the latest phone is a 13-megapixel dual camera; an upgrade from the 8-megapixel dual camera on the Smart 6 Plus. The situation is other way round on the front, because the earlier phone's 8-megapixel front-facing camera has been downgraded to 5-megapixel on the Smart 7 Plus.
As a result of its better rear sensor, Smart 7 Plus was able to take a more detailed photos than its predecessor. But, as expected, the shots from the front camera of the latest phone are not as detailed as those of the earlier model, though the selfies still have rich colours.

Under the hood, Infinix Smart 7 Plus is powered by the Unisoc SC9863A processor. This is the same entry-level Unisoc CPU that's inside the earlier standard Smart 6 or Infinix Smart 6 (X6511B).
Because this Unisoc CPU is an octa-core chipset, Smart 7 Plus was able to move a little faster than its predecessor, i.e., Smart 6 Plus; which featured Helio A22 quad-core CPU.
Also, the phone was able to move more quickly than many of its competitions that has the same MediaTek CPU.

Also, compared to the 2GB of RAM of the earlier model, Smart 7 Plus is fitted with an higher RAM of either 3GB or 4GB. Even, the RAM of the latest phone can still be increased via MemFusion. MemFusion enables you to boost the performance of this phone by converting up to 3GB, out of the phone's inbuilt storage, to Virtual RAM. Thereby, increasing the default 3GB RAM of the Smart 7 Plus, up to 6GB.

Furthermore, this phone is running on the recent Android 12 OS with the latest version of Infinix XOS custom UI on top.
And whether 3GB or 4GB RAM variant, each of the variants is paired with the same high storage space of 64GB.

Also as i said earlier, and unlike its predecessor, Infinix Smart 7 Plus features USB Type-C port. The phone also packed a more bigger 6,000mAh battery, however, it maintain the standard 10W charging of the earlier phone.
Nonetheless, Smart 7 Plus still support USB OTG, and it also features a rear mounted fingerprint reader like the earlier phone.

Price And Design Colours:
Currently, the starting price of the Infinix Smart 7 Plus is 69,000 Naira. And it's available in three colours of Night Black, Azure Blue, and Emerald Green.

DESIGN: A Refreshing And Premium Looks.
As i mentioned earlier, although Infinix Smart 7 Plus has a 6.6-inch drop-notched screen as the earlier Smart 6 Plus, the latest phone's flat edges and big camera bump makes it look different and more beautiful than the earlier phone.
Yet it is the same camera bump and flat edges that make Smart 7 Plus to resemble another recent budget phone, Tecno Pop 7 Pro (BF7).

Apart from having the same camera bump as the Pop 7 Pro, the arrangement of camera sensors and LED Flash light, inside the bump, are also similar to that of the Tecno phone.
In short, if not for its different-looking back cover, Infinix Smart 7 Plus would have looked exactly like the Tecno Pop 7 Pro.

Meanwhile, the arrangements of ports and buttons on the Smart 7 Plus are similar to those of its predecessor. You have the volume keys and power button on the right edge of the phone, while its 4G Dual Nano-SIM+microSD Card slot is located on the left edge. The latest phone's microphone, 3.5mm audio jack, and mono speaker, are also placed on its bottom edge, alongside the USB Type-C port.

CAMERA: Upgraded Rear Sensor, Downgraded Front Sensor.
Though the 8-megapixel main sensor on the earlier model has been upgraded to 13-megapixel sensor on the Smart 7 Plus, but the second camera on this phone still has a QVGA sensor (which assist the main camera in taking clear picture, especially in low-light environments).

Due to its better sensor, the shots from the rear camera of the Infinix Smart 7 Plus are more detailed and have slightly better colours, than the ones taken with the earlier phone's camera.
But, when you compared the photos to those of other phones with a similar 13-megapixel sensor, you'll discover that you need a good lighting conditions to get a bright and clear shorts from the rear camera of the Smart 7 Plus.

On the other hand, and despite that the shots from the 5-megapixel front-facing camera of the Smart 7 Plus have saturated colours, they lack details. The front-facing camera of the competing Tecno Pop 7 Pro offers a more detailed and slightly clearer selfies. Yet as i mentioned earlier, selfies from the smart 7 Plus have better colours.
Meanwhile both the front and rear cameras of the Infinix Smart 7 Plus can shoot videos up to 1080p at 30fps (frame per second).

Same 6.6-inch 720p Display:
Apart from having the same size and the same 20.15:9 aspect ratio as the earlier one, the display of the latest phone also has the same 720p resolution of 1612-by-720 pixels. In other words, the screen has the same pixel density (or sharpness) of 268ppi as the earlier one.

The screen also has a nice picture quality like the earlier one. It even has a slightly better colours and good contrast.
Though it has a good level of brightness too, but, despite that it's said to be a Sunlight Display like the earlier one, it's not as bright or as vibrant.
As a result, the screen of the Smart 7 Plus struggles to cope under direct sunlight.

Upgraded CPU, Higher RAM, Higher Storage And Recent Software:
Like the Helio A22 CPU that came with the Smart 6 Plus, the Unisoc SC9863A CPU that's inside this phone is an entry-level level processor, but while the earlier CPU is a quad-core processor, SC9863A is an octa-core processor.
As a result, and with its higher RAM (3GB/4GB), Infinix Smart 7 Plus was able to deliver slightly smoother performance, (especially when it comes to multitasking and gaming), than the earlier model and a few other recent budget phones such as the Tecno Pop 7 Pro; which also feature Helio A22 CPU.
NOTE: Like the Smart 7 Plus, Tecno Pop 7 Pro is also running on the full fledge Android 12 OS. But the octa-core CPU gives the Infinix phone an edge, in term of performance, over Pop 7 Pro.
However, the 12nm Hello A22 CPU slightly more power efficient than the 28nm Unisoc SC9863A. And i think this is one of the reasons Infinix equipped Smart 7 Plus with bigger battery.

Meanwhile, as i said earlier. the performance of the Smart 7 Plus can boosted through MemFusion. Which enables you to convert up to 3GB of free space (out of the phone's inbuilt storage) to virtual RAM. Thereby allowing you to increase the 3GB and 4GB RAM of the Smart 7 Plus up to 6GB and 7GB, respectively.
Also despite that the 64GB internal storage space of this phone is on the high side, it can still be expanded up to 2TB (Terabyte), via microSD card.

Bigger Battery And USB Type-C Port:
Compared to the 5000mAh battery and MicroUSB port of its predecessor, Infinix Smart 7 Plus is equipped with a bigger 6000mAh battery and a USB Type-C port.

In spite of its bigger battery, however, the latest phone doesn't support fast charging. In other words, Infinix Smart 7 Plus retain the standard 10W charging of the earlier model.
Therefore, with its out-of-the-box 10W charger, it'll take you over three hours to fully charge Smart 7 Plus' battery from zero percent.
