While many of the recent budget phones are trying to compensate their basic components with pretty designs, Samsung Galaxy A04s maintain the simple looks of its predecessors. However, unlike many of those phones, Galaxy A04s has a better build quality.
The screen of this phone also looks better, despite having a 720p resolution like most of them. Galaxy A04s also packed a better processor and has an impressive cameras. In short, photos taken with this phone rival those of the more expensive entry-level phones.

By the way, Samsung Galaxy A04s (SM-A047F) is the better equipped variant of the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy A04 (SM-A045F). There's also Samsung Galaxy A04e (SM-A042F), which is the least equipped variant. In other words, Galaxy A04e can be regarded as the stripped version of the standard Galaxy A04, and the cheapest of all the three phones.

Basically, all the three variants (of the Galaxy A04) have an identical form factors and they also look almost the same. All of them also features similar 6.5-inch Drop-notched (Infinity-V) displays. However, in details, each of them has different dimensions. Yet, from the front, you can't easily tell them apart, even if you have the privilege of putting them side by side.
However, it easier to sports Galaxy A04s from the other two by its triple rear camera, but, it's difficult to tell apart standard Galaxy A04 from the Galaxy A04e, because both of them feature an identical dual rear cameras.

Under the hood also, Samsung Galaxy A04s is the only one, among them, that's equipped with Samsung's in-house Exynos CPU, while the other two features the same MediaTek chipset. Galaxy A04s is also the only one that offers fingerprint reader and support high screen refresh rate. However, except for those ones, other features of the Samsung Galaxy A04s still remain as those of the standard Galaxy A04.

Meanwhile, talking about its looks, Samsung Galaxy A04s maintain the same bland and familiar design of its predecessor i.e., Samsung Galaxy A03s, and prior models. But the curved edges of the latest phone are less pronounced. In other words, the edges of the Galaxy A04s are slightly more angular. The camera bump is also missing on the back of this phone.
Though, the small modifications make Galaxy A04s to appear slightly flatter and prettier than its predecessor, still, they don't make the phone to look better than most of its competitions. Yet, in spite of its simple looks, Samsung Galaxy A04s has a better build quality than most of them.

Apart from its better build quality, Samsung Galaxy A04s also offers a better looking display. Though, just like the earlier model, Galaxy A04s features a 6.5-inch PLS-LCD screen, and it also features the same 720p resolution. Yet the screen is still as attractive and as vibrant as that of the earlier model. Even, unlike the earlier one, the latest screen support high (90hz) refresh rate; for smoother animation and page scrolling. In short, one of the main selling points of this phone is its attractive screen. Yet, there are few others, in this segment, such as Redmi 12C, Oppo A17 and Infinix Hot 12, that offer similar pretty displays. Still, there's another aspect of the Galaxy A04s that stands out, camera.

The major selling point of the Samsung Galaxy A04s is its cameras. Though, the phone still features a 5-megapixel front camera and a triple rear camera like its predecessor. But the 13-megapixel main rear sensor on the earlier phone has been upgraded to 50-megapixel. As a result, the latest phone was able to deliver a more clearer and natural looking photos than the earlier one. Even, compared to the ones taken with other low budget phones, even the more expensive ones such as the Infinix Note 12 G88, the shots from the Samsung Galaxy A04s cameras look more realistic.

And concerning its processing power, Galaxy A04s is equipped with Samsung's in-house Exynos 850 CPU; which offers better performance than the Helio P35 CPU that came with the Galaxy A03s. But, in spite of its upgraded CPU, Samsung Galaxy A04s still has the same RAM options of either 3GB or 4GB, like its predecessor. And each of the RAMs is fitted with 32GB and 64GB inbuilt storage, respectively. Nonetheless, unlike the earlier model, Galaxy A04s is still available in an higher storage option of 128GB. But the 128GB storage is also paired with 4GB of RAM.

Out-of-the-box, Samsung Galaxy A04s is preloaded with the recent Android 12 OS. And running on top of the Android OS is the latest version of the Samsung's One UI Core.
Also as i said earlier, as a result of its better chipset, Galaxy A04s offers a slightly better performance than the Galaxy A03s. In addition to that, Galaxy A04s has been optimized to run quickly like most of other entry-level phones that offer better chipsets.
Even, to ensure smoother performance, Galaxy A04s features RAM Plus. A recently introduced Samsung Mobile's RAM expansion feature. That enables you to boost the performance of this phone by converting up to 4GB, out of the phone's inbuilt storage, to Virtual RAM. Thereby, increasing the phone's default 4GB of RAM, up to 8GB.

Furthermore, unlike the earlier model, Galaxy A04s supports 15W fast charging. Yet, the phone still maintain the USB Type-C port and 5,000mAh battery of the earlier model. The latest phone also retain the single bottom-firing speaker and side-mounted fingerprint reader of the earlier model.

Price And Design Colours:
Samsung Galaxy A04s comes in different RAM and storage configurations of 3GB/64GB, 4GB/64GB, and 4GB/128GB. Currently, the starting price of the phone is about 97,000 naira. And it's available in four colour options of Green, Black, Copper, and White.

DESIGN: Same Design But Slight Modifications:
As i said earlier, despite the fact that Samsung Galaxy A04s shares design with the Galaxy A03s, the absence of camera bump and a more angular edges, make the latest phone to appear classier than the earlier model. The phone also look flatter, despite the fact the thickness remain the same. This can be attested by the latest phone's 164.7x76.7x9.1mm dimensions, compared to the 164.2x75.9x9.1mm dimensions of the Galaxy A03s. Still, it can be deduced from the given dimensions that Galaxy A04s is a hair's wider and taller than the Galaxy A03s. Also compared to the matte finish of the earlier phone's, Galaxy A04s sports a reflective or glossy finish.

Nonetheless, the minor facelifts still make Samsung Galaxy A04s to look exactly like another previous Samsung phone, Galaxy A13. In fact, except for the fact that Galaxy A04s features a triple rear camera, compared to the quad (four) rear camera of the Galaxy A13, there no other visible difference between these two phones.

samsung-galaxy-a04s-sm-a047f.
However, except for the absence of camera bump, Galaxy A04s maintain every other visible attributes of the Galaxy A03s. You still have the volume keys and power button (which doubles as fingerprint reader) on the right edge of the phone, while its 4G Dual-Nano SIM+microSD Card slot is also located on the left edge. The latest phone's microphone, 3.5mm audio jack, and speaker, are also placed on its bottom edge, alongside USB Type-C port.

CAMERAS: Impressive Photos:
Though Samsung Galaxy A04s has a triple rear camera like the Galaxy A03s, but the main rear camera on the latest phone is fitted with an higher or 50-megapixel sensor (compared to the 13-megapixel sensor on the earlier phone). Nonetheless, the latest phone retain the 2-megapixel Depth sensor (for portrait photos or photos with blur backgrounds or Bokeh effect) and the 2-megapixel Macro sensor (for taking detailed pictures of close-up objects) of the earlier phone.

So, due to its superior main sensor, photos from the Galaxy A04s are clearer, sharper and a little more detailed, than the ones from the earlier model. The photos also have a more accurate and vivid colours, with good dynamic range and white balance. Also unlike the ones taken with the Galaxy A04e, even Galaxy A04, the photos from this phone are devoid of warm tone or orange hue.

Even, compared to those of the few competitions, such as the Oppo A17 and Redmi 13C; which have similar 50-megapixel main sensors, photos from the Galaxy A04s have less noise and offer a more vivid and accurate colours.

And despite that Galaxy A04s doesn't seem to have Night Mode, the shots taken at night are clearer and brighter (without over-processed) than those of other entry-level phones with dedicated Night Mode. Even, in spite of their low megapixel sensors, both the Depth sensor and Macro sensor of this phone were able to take pleasing photos.

The same pleasant things can be said of the Galaxy A04s' 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Because despite the fact that the camera was not able to deliver detailed selfies (due to its low-megapixel sensor), still, the selfies are clear and bright. They also have nice skin tone and more accurate colours.
By the way, both the front and rear cameras of the Galaxy A04s are capable of shooting 1080p videos at 30fps (frame per seconds).

DISPLAY: Still Looking Nice, Plus Adaptive High Screen Refresh Rate:
Samsung Galaxy A04s has the same screen properties as its two siblings and its predecessor. This screen also maintain the same good picture qualities.
Because, like the one on the earlier Galaxy A03s, the 6.5-inch screen of the Galaxy A04s has a PLS-LCD panel; which often accompanied Samsung's entry-level phones. But this panel has a better colour reproduction than most of the low-end IPS-LCD panels that often found on the budget android phones.

Furthermore, the screen of the Galaxy A04s also packed the same 1600-by-720 pixels as that of the Galaxy A03s'. But compared to the 271PPI pixel density of the Galaxy A03s', the screen of the A04s has a pixel density of 270PPI. This negligible difference, in their pixel densities, may be due to the slight difference in both phones' dimensions, mentioned above.

Also unlike that of the earlier one, the screen of the Galaxy A04s supports 90hz or higher screen refresh rate, and it's Adaptive. It is Adaptive because it can automatically toggle between between standard 60hz refresh rate and 90hz refresh rate, depending on what you're doing on the phone at the particular time, to bring out optimum user experience or conserve energy.

Though, Samsung Galaxy A04s screen is bright and vibrant enough to cope with most of the lighting conditions and out-door usage, but the screen peak brightness of about 400nits is a little lower than that the 460nits of the Galaxy A03s'. Still, when you compared the screen of the Galaxy A04s to those of other entry-level phones, it was able to render a more vivid pictures and better colours.
NOTE: A few other entry-level phones, such the ones mentioned i.e., Redmi 13C and Oppo A17, plus a few others like Infinix Hot 12 and Infinix Note 12i, offer an attractive displays that compete with that of the Galaxy A04s. Even all the listed phones displays are slightly bigger.

Upgraded Chipset, Recent OS, And RAM Plus:
Although, Galaxy A04s doesn't have the best chipset in its class. Because in term of processing power, the phone's Exynos 850 CPU falls slightly behind the Mediatek Helio G85 that powered the likes of the Infinix Hot 12, Infinix Note 12i and Redmi C13. But the Samsung CPU performs slightly better than the Helio G35 that's inside Oppo A17.
And talking about power management, Exynos 850 is more power efficient than both of the Helio G85 and Helio G35. And it's because the Samsung CPU is an 8nm chipset, while the Helio G85 is a 12nm CPU.
Even, despite that Exynos 850 chipset doesn't pack enough muscle like the Helio G85, Galaxy A04s has been optimized, with One UI Core 4.1 on top of the Android 12 OS, to run smoothly like those phones with Helio G85 chipset.

Not to forget that the performance of the Galaxy A04s can still be boosted through RAM Plus. Similar to the Infinix and Tecno Mobile's Memfusion, or Redmi's RAM Extension, the Samsung's RAM Plus enables you to convert up to 4GB of free space (out of the phone's inbuilt storage) to virtual RAM. Thereby allowing you to increase the 3GB and 4GB of the Galaxy A04s up to 7GB and 8GB respectively.
And whether 34GB, 64GB, or 128GB variant, the internal storage capacity of the Samsung Galaxy A04s can still be expanded up to 1TB (One Terabyte), via microSD card.

Same Battery, But Fast Charging:
On the aspect of battery, though Galaxy A04s retain the 5,000mAh battery and USB Type-C port of the earlier model, yet its charging speed is almost twice of that of the earlier phone. Because while the earlier phone featured 7.8W charging, Galaxy A04s support 15W fast charging.

Therefore, it took Samsung Galaxy A04s about two hours fifteen minutes to fully charge its battery from zero percent, while it took the earlier phone about three hours forty minutes to do the same. Also as i mentioned earlier, Samsung Galaxy A04s is a little more power efficient than the Galaxy A03s, because the latest phone CPU is of smaller nanometers .
