Spark Go 2021 (KE5) is the latest model of the Tecno Spark Go series, and it's also the successor to the late last year's Tecno Spark Go 2020 (KE5). Spark Go is the stripped (or lighter) variant of the Tecno Spark Series. Which means this phone can be regarded as a low-cost android phone, because the standard Spark phone is already an entry-level android phone.

Compared to a standard Tecno Spark, for instance Tecno Spark 7 (kf6i), Tecno Spark Go 2021 is equipped with basic specs and lower features, as a result it attracts lower price.

NOTE: If you are familiar with or own Tecno Spark Go 2020, then you should know that Tecno Spark Go 2021 is still Spark Go 2020 in every possible way, i think this is why they both have the same code name KE5. In fact, the only and only thing that differentiates Spark Go 2021 from the Spark Go 2020 is the design pattern on the latest phone back cover.

Meanwhile, compared to a few other low budget android phones (in this category) such as Itel P37 and Tecno Pop 5, Tecno Spark Go 2021 attract slightly higher price, yet, it has few trade-offs. 

Unlike those two phones, for instance, Tecno Spark Go 2021 support 4G (LTE) networks. And it also equipped with a better processor and better cameras.

Nonetheless, other features of the Spark Go 2021 such as display, RAM, storage and battery capacity are like those of the two mentioned phones. Similar to that of the Itel P37, for instance, Tecno Spark Go 2021 sports a 6.52-inch HD+ drop-notched display, though the screen of the Tecno phone seems to be clearer and a hair's bigger too. This phone also features 2GB of RAM, 32GB storage and 5000mAh battery like the Itel P37 (and Tecno Pop 5). Also, like the two phones, Spark Go 2021 is running on the Go Edition of the Android 10 OS, but with Tecno's HiOS custom UI on top.

Nonetheless, as i said earlier, Spark Go 2021 support 4G (LTE) networks, but the highest network supported by other two phones is 3G. Also compared to the Unisoc SC7731E CPU that powered both Tecno Pop 5 and Itel P37, Spark Go 2021 is equipped with a slightly faster Helio A20 CPU. This phone is also fitted with an 8-megapixel front camera and a 13-megapixel dual back camera; which are also better than the camera systems on the two phones.

Price And Design Colours:

Currently, the price of the Spark Go 2021 is around 57,000 naira and it's available in Maldives Blue, Horizon Orange and Galaxy Blue colour options.

Another contender, in this category, is the Itel P37 Pro. Like the Spark Go 2021, Itel P37 Pro phone support 4G (LTE) networks, even compared to the Quad-core CPU and 6.52-inch screen of the Spark Go 2021, the Itel phone features an Octa-core CPU and a bigger 6.8-inch display. And in term of picture quality, the screen of the P37 Pro is almost the same with that of the Tecno phone.

Tecno Spark Go 2021 Design:

Due to its drop-notched display, Tecno Spark Go 2021 shares looks with the Itel P37, Tecno Pop 5 and many other low-budget android phones within this price range.

Though, like those phones, the chassis of the Spark Go 2021 is also made of plastics, yet, the phone looks and feel more premium than most of them.

The Differences Between Spark Go 2021 Earlier Model Lie In Their Back Covers:

As i mentioned in the beginning, the only thing that differentiates Spark Go 2021 from the Spark Go 2020 is the design pattern on the latest phone back cover. Compared to the plain and semi-glossy finish of the earlier phone's back cover, the latest phone's back cover has a matte finish with engraved curved lines which are bumpy to touch.

And while the Tecno branding on the earlier model is placed on the lower part of its back cover (close to the speaker grille), the Tecno branding on the latest phone is placed directly below the camera bump.

Furthermore, though the shape of the camera bump and the arrangement of the cameras remain as those of the earlier model, yet, the camera sensors, on the latest model, now have white circles around them. Also, there is an AI inscription inside the latest phone's camera bump.

Those are the only things that differentiate Spark Go 2021 from Spark Go 2020.

Other Physical Attributes Remain The Same:

The arrangement of ports and buttons on this phone are similar to those of the Spark Go 2020 and other low-end android phones in this segment.

On the right edge of this phone is the power button and volume rockers, but there is nothing on its left edge because Spark Go 2021 does not have hybrid (3-in-1) SIM card slot (and tray) like the mid-range and more expensive entry-level smartphones. You have to open the back cover before you can have access to this phone dual Nano SIM card slots and microSD card slot.

On the top edge of the phone is the 3.5mm audio jack, while you have microphone and microUSB port on its bottom edge. The single speaker of the Spark Go 2021 is also placed on the lower part of its back cover, towards the bottom edge.

Tecno Spark Go 2021 Processing Power, O.S And Storage:

Though, the MediaTek MT6761D or Helio A20 that powered Spark Go 2021 is a low-end 12nm Quad-core chipset like the Unisoc SC7731E that came with the Itel P37 and Tecno Pop 5. But Helio A20 is a recent processor and it also offers a faster maximum clock speed of 1.8Ghz, compared to the 1.3Ghz of the Unisoc chipset. The Mediatek chipset is also fitted with a much better PowerVR-GE8300 GPU (Graphic Processing Unit). Still, the GPU is meant for light games like the Mali-T820 GPU of the Itel P37 and Pop 5.

Though, due to its low RAM, Spark Go 2021 is running on the Go Edition (lighter version) of an Android Operating System (OS), but instead of Android 11 Go Edition, the phone is preloaded with the Android 10 Go Edition like its predecessor. Also running on top of the OS is the previous version of the Tecno HiOS, i.e., HiOS 6.2. 

And because Tecno Spark Go 2021 can take MicroSD card, therefore, the 32GB inbuilt storage of the phone can be expanded up to 64GB.

The Display Of The Spark Go 2021 Are Better Than Those Of Others In This Segment:

Like that of the more expensive Tecno Spark 7, the 6.52-inch drop-notched display of the Spark Go 2021 features an HD+ resolution of 1600x720 and has an aspect ratio of 20:9. Although this means that the 6.52-inch screen of the Tecno Spark Go 2021 also packed the same 269ppi pixel density as that of the Spark 7, nonetheless, the Spark 7 display seems to have a slightly richer colours and clearer pictures.

Yet, in term of picture qualities, the display of the Spark Go 2021 is slightly better than that of the Itel P37, while that of the Itel P37 is also better than that of the Tecno Pop 5.

The Phone Also Has Better Cameras:

Better than the 5-megapixel front camera and 8-megapixel dual back camera of the Itel P37, Tecno Spark Go 2021 is equipped with an 8-megapixel front camera and a 13-megapixel dual back camera.

The primary rear back camera is made up of the 13-megapixel (f/1.8) sensor, while the secondary back camera is made up of a QVGA or AI sensor, which assist the primary camera in taking clearer pictures in low-light environments.

Both the front and back cameras of the Spark Go 2021 are also capable of shooting Full-HD+ or 1080p videos at 30 fps (frame per second).

Same Battery Capacity And Charger As The P37 And Pop 5: 

Tecno Spark Go 2021 is equipped with a 5000mAh battery like the Itel P37 and Tecno Pop 5, and it also has a 5W charger like them. Because the charger is lower than the 10W charger that often comes with midrange and more expensive entry-level phones. So, it might take you over 4 hours to fully charge this phone battery when it drops to one per cent.
