Tecno Spark 8P (kg7h) is the better equipped variant of the Tecno Spark 8 (kg6), and it's also the successor to the last year's Tecno Spark 7P (kf7j).
Though the front of the Spark 8P still looks like that of the Spark 7P, because the phone also sports a drop-notch display. But compared to the 6.8-inch screen of the earlier phone, Tecno Spark 8P has a slightly smaller 6.6-inch screen. Besides its smaller size, the screen also lack support for 90Hz refresh rate, unlike that of the earlier model.

But while the screen of the earlier phone has an HD+ resolution, that of the Spark 8P features a Full-HD+ or 1080p resolution. As a result, pictures and videos look more sharper and clearer on the Spark 8P screen.

Though the front of the Spark 8P looks like that of its predecessor, yet the back of the phone looks different but more attractive. And the prettier looks is mainly as a result of the latest phone's large and premium-looking rear camera bump; which occupies the entire top part of the phone's back cover.
In addition to that, the back cover of the phone is also adorned with an inspired Stop At Nothing inscription.

Furthermore, instead of having a rear-mounted fingerprint reader like its predecessor, Tecno Spark 8P sports a side-mounted fingerprint reader, i.e., the power button of this phone also doubled as fingerprint reader.

The camera system has been slightly upgraded too. Although Tecno Spark 8P has a triple back camera and a single front camera like the Spark 7P, the 16-megapixel primary back camera on the earlier phone has been replaced with a 50-megapixel camera on the Spark 8P. However, the phone still retain the 8-megapixel front camera of the earlier model.

Under the hood also, Tecno Spark 8P maintain the software, RAM and storage configurations of its predecessor, but the processing power has been slightly downgraded. In other words, Tecno Spark 8P features 4GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB internal storage and Android 11 OS like the Spark 7. The phone also has the same version of Tecno HiOS custom UI on top of the Android OS. But the Helio G70 CPU, that came with the Spark 7P, has been replaced with a slightly less powerful Helio G35 CPU.

Except for the ones mentioned above, almost all other features of the Spark 8P are like those of the earlier model. For instance, the phone also comes with a microUSB port and has a 5000mAh battery. Tecno Spark 8P also lack support for fast charging like the earlier model.

Verdict: In conclusion, the selling points of the Tecno Spark 8P are its 1080p display, slightly better rear camera and the big premium-looking camera bump. Otherwise, other features of this phone are like those of the earlier model. Not to forget that the latest phone is even equipped with a slightly less power chipset.
Note: In some regions, Tecno Spark 8P comes with Helio G70 processor like the earlier model.

Price And Design Colours:
Meanwhile, the current price of the 4GB/64GB variant of the Spark 8P is around 89,000 naira, while that of the 4GB/128GB variant is around 94,000 naira. And the phone is available in four colour options of Turquoise Cyan, Atlantic Blue, Iris Purple and Tahiti Gold.

Tecno Spark 8 Design:
As i said earlier, the drop-notched display of the Spark 8P still looks like that of the earlier model safe for its slightly smaller screen size. Yet, as a result of its slightly smaller size, Tecno Spark 8P is easier to hold and operate with one hand than the Tecno Spark 7P. In addition to that (and as given in its 164.5x76.05x8.85mm dimensions), the latest phone is slightly flatter than the 9.2mm thick Spark 7P.

The unusually big camera module also makes the back of the phone to look different and stand out from those of other phones. Furthermore, and despite having the same glossy finish as the earlier phone, the back cover of the latest phone sports a different design pattern.

Also as i said earlier and except for the Stop At Nothing Inscription, there is nothing else on the back of the latest phone because the phone doesn't have a rear-mounted fingerprint reader like its predecessor.
Nonetheless, if not for the presence of that premium-looking camera bump, the back of the Spark 8P would have looked less prettier than that of the Spark 7P.

Meanwhile and except for the lack of rear mounted fingerprint reader, other visible attributes of the Spark 8P are exactly like those of the Spark 7P. Which means you have the volume rockers and power button (which now doubled as fingerprint reader) on the right edge of the Spark 8P, and on the left edge are its dual Nano SIM card+MicroSD card slot and tray. The phone's microphone, 3.5mm audio jack, microUSB port and speaker grille are placed on the bottom edge. Also like that of the Spark 7P, there is nothing on the top edge of the Spark 8P.

Spark 8P Offers A Full-HD+ Display:
Though the 6.6-inch display of the Spark 8P is slightly smaller than the 6.8-inch of the Spark 7P. But compared to the 720p or HD+ resolution of the earlier display, the slightly smaller screen of the Spark 8P feature a Full-HD+ or 1080p. And the Full-HD+ resolution is made up of 2408 by 1080 pixels, which also implies that the screen has a much higher pixel density of 400ppi compared to the 262ppi of the Spark 7P display.

In other words, and compared to those of the Spark 7P display, the pictures and videos on the latest phone display are more clearer or shaper. The brightness also look much better too. But it seems the contrast and colour accuracy of this screen are almost the same with those of the Spark 7P's.

Tecno Spark 7P Also Has A Slightly Better Camera System:
As i stated earlier, Tecno Spark 8P has an 8-megapixel front camera and a triple back camera like its predecessor. But the 16-megapixel primary back camera has been replaced with a 50-megapixel camera on the latest phone. Nonetheless the rest of the camera setup are similar to those of the Spark 7P. In other words, the second back camera is made up of a Depth sensor; which is meant for taking Bokeh pictures or pictures with blurred backgrounds. And the third back camera is made up of a QVGA or AI lens; which assists the Main camera in taking brighter pictures in low light environments.

But, despite having the same front-facing camera and an higher megapixel primary back camera, the front and back cameras of the Spark 8P are only capable of shooting 1080p videos at 30fps (frame per second), unlike those of the earlier phone which are capable of shooting 1080p and 2K videos at 30fps. Tecno has also replaced the dual front flash on the Spark 7P with a single front flash on the Spark 8P.

Same OS, RAM & Storage Configuration, But Slightly Less Processing Power:
Like the Spark 7P, Tecno Spark 8P is running on the Android 11 OS (Operating System) with the same HiOS 7.6 custom UI on top. The phone also features 4GB of RAM. And the RAM is also paired with either 64GB or 128GB internal storage. In fact as i mentioned earlier, the only thing that differentiates the internal configurations of the Spark 8P from those of the Spark 7P is the CPU.

Because in place of the MediaTek Helio G70 that accompanied Tecno Spark 7P, Tecno Spark 8P is powered by the MediaTek Helio G35. Although both these cpus are 12nm Octa-core processors, even Helio G35 (of the Spark 8P) has a slightly higher maximum clock speed of 2.3Ghz.
But while the Octa-core chipset of the Helio G70 is made up of 2x-Cortex A75 Arm and 6x-Cortex A55 Arm, that of the Helio G35 is made up of 8x-Cortex A53 Arm.
Also compared to the Mali-G52 MC2 GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) of the earlier CPU, the IMG PowerVR-8320 GPU that comes with the Helio G35 is slightly less powerful .
In short, both CPUs specs above implies that the earlier phone's Helio G70 CPU is slightly more powerful than the Helio G35 of the Spark 8P.

Meanwhile, like the Spark 7P, Tecno Spark 8P is also equipped with a dual or stereo speakers. Which also implies that the Spark 8P audio output is similar to that of the earlier phone. And it also means that the Spark 8P has a better sound output and audio quality than its base variant, Tecno Spark 8; which comes with a single speaker.
By the way, the internal storage of the Spark 8P can be expanded, via MicroSD card, up to 256GB.

Same 5000mAh Battery:
Besides having a 5000mAh battery like its predecessor, Tecno Spark 8P also lack support for fast charging. Therefore, and with the phone's out of the box 10W charger, it'll take you about four hours to fully charge Tecno Spark 8P's battery when it drops to one percent.
