Although the Infinix Note 50 4G (X6858) has a lot in common with other similarly priced budget phones, it offers some unique features which you rarely see on them. For instance, the phone supports wireless and reverse-wireless charging and packs a wireless charging TPU case in its box. The phone also features an unusually high screen refresh rate and is equipped with an impressive camera.
Although the Note 50 also offers an array of AI features and boots the latest Android OS out of the box, there are some competing phones that offer similar software packages.

By the way, the Infinix Note 50 is the successor to the Infinix Note 40. It's also the base version of the recently unveiled Infinix Note 50 Pro 4G. There are also the Infinix Note 50 Pro+ and Infinix Note 50s. When comparing the regular Note 50 (our focus) to the Note 50 Pro, there isn't much difference between them. Specifically, what distinguishes the Pro model from the regular one are its higher megapixel selfie camera, ultra-wide second rear camera, and twice the charging speed. There's also a health monitoring sensor (for Blood Pressure & Oxygen level) inside the rear camera module of the Pro model, but this health sensor is missing on the regular model. Except for these, there's no other notable difference between the Pro model and the regular Note 50.

Design: Familiar But Redesigned Camera Bump:
The Infinix Note 50 comes in the same size and preserves the 6.78-inch hole-punch display of the Infinix Note 40. It also preserves the all-flat and boxy look of the earlier model. Still, in spite of their identical looks, the Infinix Note 50 can be easily identified by its rear camera bump, which is in the form of a trapezium, compared to the all-squared camera bump of the Note 40.

Furthermore, the Infinix Note 50 also has better build quality. Firstly, while the frame of the earlier phone is made of plastic, the frame of the Note 50 is made of metal. Also, while the earlier phone is IP52 (dust and water splash resistant) certified, the latest device offers a higher protection rating of IP64, meaning it's dust-tight and water-splash certified.

In spite of its better build quality, however, the latest phone's display lacks the Corning Gorilla Glass protection that's present on the earlier model. Fortunately, the phone comes with a tempered glass protection in its box.
Nonetheless, except for the fact that the Infinix Note 50 comes with an IR blaster and its power button serves as a One-Tap button (more on this later), there's no other difference between the phone and the earlier model. In other words, the arrangement of buttons and ports on the Infinix Note 50, and their positions, are similar to those on the Infinix Note 40.

So, you have a speaker, a USB Type-C port, a microphone, and a dual 4G nano-SIM tray (with no microSD card slot) on the bottom of the Note 50. On the top is another speaker, another microphone, and the IR blaster. There's no port or button on the left side of the phone, save for two antenna lines. There are also two antenna lines on the right side of the phone, alongside the volume and power buttons. As i said, the latest phone's power button can also serve as a One-Tap button.

First seen on the Tecno Camon 40 and Camon 40 Pro, the One-Tap button's functionality is similar to that of the traditional Google Assistant button. By default, the One-Tap button is assigned to the Infinix Voice Assistant, otherwise known as Folax, however, it can be remapped for other functions.
By the way, if you desire a microSD card on a phone that has similar features as the Note 50, the Camon 40 is a good choice. However, the Tecno phone also lacks a 3.5mm audio jack, like the Note 50. But the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 offers both a microSD card slot and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Design Colour And Price:
The Infinix Note 50 is available various colour options of Titanium Grey, Shadow Black, Ruby Red & Mountain Shadow. Currently, the starting price of the phone is about 326,000 Naira.

Same Big, Nice-looking Display, But 144Hz Refresh Rate:
The main highlight of the Infinix Note 50's display is its unusually high screen refresh rate; otherwise, the display has the same things in common with those of the Note 40, Camon 40, and Camon 40 Pro. In detail, the 6.78-inch display of the Note 50 features an AMOLED panel and has a Full-HD+ (1080p) resolution of 2346 by 1080 pixels, at 393ppi pixel density.

And speaking of its unusually high refresh rate, the screen of the Note 50 has a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz, which is obviously higher than the usual 120Hz of its predecessor and most other budget phones.
Yet, like others with a similar AMOLED panel, the Note 50's display features an on-screen fingerprint reader and AOD (Always-On Display). The display also has good colour reproduction, nice contrast, and a decent level of brightness. With the manual slider, the peak brightness is about 600 nits, and it can go up to 1300 nits in Auto mode. As a result, the Note 50's display is viewable under direct sunlight.

Meanwhile, like most phones at this price point, the Infinix Note 50's AMOLED display lacks support for and is unable to display HDR content. Nonetheless, the display fully supports Widevine L1 DRM certification, meaning you can watch videos in 1080p or High Definition (and with improved color reproduction) on streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Remarkable Camera:
There are three camera sensors inside the camera bump of the Infinix Note 50. There's also an LED Flash and a ring-like notification LED, which Infinix calls Halo Light. As i said, unlike the Note 50 Pro, the health (Blood Pressure and Oxygen Level) monitor sensor is missing inside the Halo Light of this regular model's bump. By the way, the Halo Light can be remapped and customized for various notification light effects.

The triple rear camera of the Note 50 is made up of a 50MP main lens, a 2MP macro lens, and an AI lens. On the front of the phone is a 13MP selfie lens.
Although, in comparison to the Note 40's 108MP main sensor, the latest phone's 50MP main sensor is a downgrade in megapixel count, as a result of of its notable lens, Samsung GN5, photos captured by the Note 50 looking much better than those from the earlier model. In other words, and despite the fact that photos taken with the Camon 40 look remarkable, the ones from the Note 50 are noticeably more vivid, and colours appear more life-like.

Generally, photos taken with the Infinix Note 50 have good contrast and a remarkable level of clarity. As a result, photos appear noticeably more vivid than those from most competitors. Colours also appear more vibrant, yet more true to life. Dynamic range is also wide, and portrait shots' background blurring effects look good.
Even when compared to those from the Note 50 Pro, i prefer the shots from the Note 50. This is because photos taken with this regular model seem to have more toned-down or neutral colors, while those from the Note 50 Pro appear to have slightly warm or more exciting colors.

However, as a result of its lower megapixel front camera, selfies from the Note 50 are neither as impressively clear nor as detailed as those from the Pro model. Though the selfies preserve good colour rendition and nice skin tone of the ones from the Pro model.
Nonetheless, like the Pro model, and with both its front and rear cameras, the Note 50 can shoot video up to 2K at 30fps. Both the front and rear cameras also feature video stabilization. However, while the rear camera's video stabilization is optical (OIS), the front camera's is electronic (EIS). Also, when video stabilization is on, the Infinix Note 50 can only shoot videos up to 1080p.

Latest Software But Familiar Processing Power:
Out of the box, the Infinix Note 50 is pre-installed XOS 15.0.1 custom UI; running on top of the Android 15 OS. And there's an assurance of up to 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security patches for the Note 50.
Like most of the recently unveiled phones, the Note 50 comes pre-installed with a whole lot of AI features. There are popular ones like Google Circle To Search and Gemini. There are also others like AI Wallpaper Generator, AI Magic Eraser, and Real-time Call Translator, to mention a few.

Talking about its hardware components, the Infinix Note 50 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G100 Ultimate CPU. Although this is a recently unveiled CPU, it is nearly identical to the Helio G99 Ultimate that powered the Note 40. As a result, the phone's performance is similar to that of its predecessor.

Generally, the Infinix Note 50 handles quick multitasking and fast scrolling (on social media) smoothly and effortlessly. It also handles most games, including the graphically demanding ones, without lagging. Though, as expected of a phone at this price point, graphically intensive titles need to be played at either lower frame rates or reduced graphics settings to maintain consistent smoothness.
Meanwhile, the Infinix Note 50 is available in only one RAM and storage option: 8GB and 256GB respectively. Unfortunately, as i said at the beginning, the phone has no microSD card slot, meaning the internal storage cannot be expanded. If you are planning on using your old microSD card with your new phone, then you should consider the main alternative mentioned at the beginning.

Big Battery, Wireless & Reverse -wireless Charging:
The Infinix Note 50 supports fast charging of up to 45W, and it's powered by a 5200mAh battery, which is bigger than the typical 5000mAh that accompanies most budget phones. Though each of the competing Camon 40 and Redmi Note 14 also offers a similarly bigger battery, none of them support wireless charging like the Note 50.
The Infinix Note 50 supports 30W wireless charging. This, in addition to its higher screen refresh rate, is another rare selling point of the Note 50.
The Infinix Note 50 can be charged wirelessly by placing either a MagSafe Power Bank or a MagSafe pad (and connecting the other end of the pad to the adapter) to the back of the phone. However, you need to buy those accessories separately. In some regions, though, Infinix includes either the Power Bank (with 5000mAh capacity) or the Pad in the box of the Note 50.

Besides wireless charging, the Note 50 also supports "reverse wireless" charging and 10W "reverse wired" charging. With reverse wireless charging, you can use the Note 50 to charge another wireless-enabled phone or device by placing the back of that device against the back of the Note 50. Reverse wired charging allows you to use the Note 50 to charge a regular phone or device through the use of a USB-C cable
By the way, with the phone's 45W charger included in its box, it'll take about 1 hour and 14 minutes to fully charge the Infinix Note 50 battery from zero percent.
