Tecno Spark 4 Air (KC6) is the stripped-down variant of the recently unveiled Tecno Spark 4 (KC8). And like the Spark 4, Spark 4 Air is a budget smartphone with basic specs. In fact, Tecno Spark 4 Air features the same processor, RAM, internal storage and Main Back camera lens as the Tecno Spark 4.
Unlike the Spark 4 however, Spark 4 Air features slighlty lower front camera, lower screen size and dual-lens back camera. The phone also come with a lower battery capacity.
Being a budget smartphone, Tecno Spark 4 Air is equipped with the usual specs, which often found in most of the recent budget phones in the segment. For instance, Spark 4 Air features 2GB of RAM, 32GB Internal storage space, 13MP Dual back camera and 6.1-inch Dot-notch display.
Nonetheles, the phone still comes with a few lesser specs that are typically associated with the entry-level smartphones. For instance, Tecno Spark 4 Air features 5MP Sefie Camera and 3000mAH battery.
Verdict: I think it's the lower battery capacity, lower megapixels front camera and slightly lower screen size, that makes Tecno Spark 4 Air to attract a slightly lower price.
Still, with a price of about 50,000 Naira, what you get is a nice looking phone with decent specs and good build quality. My only concern about the Tecno Spark 4 Air is its unimpressive battery capacity.
Design:
Talking about its physical appearance, Tecno Spark 4 Air shares look and design with its brother, Tecno Spark 4, but!, the stripped-down phone features lower screen size and dual back camera (with Dual flash). In other words, Tecno Spark 4 Air comes with a 6.1-inch display, which is smaller than 6.52-inch of the Tecno Spark 4.
Though, Tecno Spark 4 Air has a smaller screen size, it's still big enough for most of your multimedia activities, especially when it features 19.5:9 screen aspect ratio (unlike the Spark 4 that has 20:9), which makes the the display of the stripped-down phone to appear slightly wide.
In addition, Tecno Spark 4 Air's display features Dot-notch, which to me, is more attractive than the Waterdrop notch that's found on the Spark 4 display.
Furthermore, the back cameras of the Tecno Spark 4 Air are also arranged in a vertical manner, but instead of having triple-lens back camera like the Tecno Spark 4, Spark 4 Air features dual-lens back camera. Also, the rear-mounted fingerprint reader of the Spark 4 Air is also found in the same position as that of the Tecno Spark 4.
Tecno Spark 4 Air has a weight of 168g, which means the phone is light. But due to its 9.2mm thickness, the Spark 4 Air is on the thick side. The Tecno phone comes with a plastic body, and it is availabes in two colours of Dark Purple and Dark Blue.
Meanwhile, the arrangements and positions of ports and buttons on the Spark 4 Air are similar to those of other recent smartphones this category.
In other words, the Hybrid (3-in-1) SIM tray and slot are located on the left edge of the phone, while the power button and volume rockers are located on the right edge.
The phone's Speaker, microphone, microUSB port and 3.5 Audio jack are found on the bottom edge of the phone, and as usual, there is nothing on the top edge of the phone.
Performance And Software:
Tecno Spark 4 Air is powered by the Helio A22 (MT6760) Mediatek Chipset, a quad-core processor that has a maximum clock speed of 2.0GHz. As a result, therefore, the phone also makes use of PowerVR GE8320, for its Graphics Processing units (GPU).
The phone is also running on the Android 9 Pie O.S. (Operating System), along the Tecno HiOS UI, version 5.0.2.
Furthermore, and like i mentioned earlier, Tecno Spark 4 Air is equipped with 2GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage space. The phone's internal storage space can also be expanded, via MicroSD Card, up to 128GB.
Spark 4 Air Offers Dual Back Camara:
Tecno Spark 4 Air is fitted with a dual-lens back camera, which comprises 13MP Main lens and a QVGA lens. The QVGA lens helps the phone to deliver much clearer low-light pictures.
On the other hand, the front-facing camera of the Tecno Spark 4 Air is slighlty on the low side, because the Sefie camera is fitted with a 5MP lens.
In addition to its rear-mounted fingerprint reader, Tecno Spark 4 Air also features Face Unlock (for the security enhancements). And due to the lack of Notification LED, Tecno Spark 4 Air comes with a Screen Flash.
6.1-inch Disply and 3000mAh Battery:
Tecno Spark 4 Air comes with a 6.1-inch IPS-LCD Display and 19.5:9 screen Aspect Ratio. And the screen features an HD+ resolution of 1560x720, which also means that the Tenco Spark 4 Air Dislay has a pixel density of 282ppi. This shows that the stripped-down phone's display has a is slightly higher pixel density (screen sharpness) than that of the Spark 4. And it's because the bigger display of the Spark 4 is equipped with the same HD+ resolution as that of the Tecno Spark 4 Air.
Meanwhile, Tecno Spark 4 Air is fitted with a non-removable 3000mAh battery. Although, the phone's not-so-big display will have positive effect on the battery life, the low battery capacity of the phone is still my concern. Tecno Mobile should have put, at least, 3500mAh battery inside the Tecno Spark 4 Air, just like the company did for the previous Tecno Spark 3. By the way, Tecno Spark 4 Air does not support fast charging.
