Both 43lm5500pva and 32lm550bpva are 2019 entry-level TVs from the LG Electronics. These TVs belong to the 5 series models of the company's TV lineup.

The 5 Series are the stripped down models of the 6 series or Smart models. As a result, and compare to the Smart models such as 43lm6300pvb and 32lm630bpvb, both 43lm5500pva and 32lm550bpva features basic specs such as single core processor, 10W speakers, 1 USB port and so on.

Yet, both of them share design with their Smart siblings. Also like those of the Smart models, the 43-inch and 32-inch displays of 43lm5500pva and 32lm550bpva also feature 1080p and 720p resolutions respectively. But due to the lack of some picture enhancements features, the colours of these TVs screens may not be as rich as those of the Smart models.

Their Current Price:
Presently, the price of these TVs and their availabilities depends on your region or location.
Nonetheless, the current of the 43lm5500pva is around KES 36,107 (about EGP 5,299 and 132,783 Naira). The smaller TV price is around KES 20,899 (about EGP 2,949 and 76,500 Naira).

Note: with slightly increased price, you can go for either LG's 43lm6300pvb or 32lm630bpvb (mentioned above). Both of them are smart TVs; which means they have better features with slightly better picture and audio qualities.

Verdict:
LG 43lm5500pva and 32lm550bpva are basic or simple LED TVs. They are basic TVs because both of them neither have smart features nor wireless connectivities. Their screens and sound qualities are also slightly less than those of the Smart models.

As a result, therefore, both of them attract slightly lower price, compared to the Smart models. Nonetheless, 43lm5500pva and 32lm550bpva have a better picture and audio qualities than majority of the smart TVs in the market.

Same Sleek Design:
Like their Smart siblings, 43lm5500pva and 32lm550bpva come in black colours, and they also feature the same sleek design and slim bezels. Both TVs also come with 2Pole stands, which look exactly like the ones of the Smart models.

And because the two TVs also feature Direct-LED backlit, in other words, they have their LED backlits placed directly behind their screen, their backs appear slightly thicker.
But due to its smaller size, the thickness is more pronounced on the back of the 32lm550bpva.

Meanwhile, compare to those of the Smart models, these TVs have fewer numbers of ports, especially USB and HDMI ports. While the Smart models are equipped with 3HDMI and 2USB ports, each of the 43lm5500pva and 32lm550bpva features 2HDMI and 1USB ports. However, the numbers and arrangements of other ports such as Composite in, Component in RF in, Optical Audio out and LAN remain as those of the Smart TVs.

And in case you misplaced your remote control, the power buttons of these TVs are also located on the bottom edges of their screens, directly below the LG branding.

Same IPS-LED Displays:
Like most of other LG TVs displays, 43lm5500pva and 32lm550bpva also have IPS-LED panels. And because IPS panels are known for having better viewing angles, therefore, and like those of the mid-range or smart models, the colours (and pictures) on these TVs screens appear uniform (remain unchanged) irrespective of your viewing angle or sitting position.

Also, like those of their Smart brothers, the 43-inch and 32-inch screens of these TVs feature 1080p and 720p resolution respectively. In other words, the 43-inch screen of the 43lm5500pva is equipped Full HD (1920x1080) resolution, while the 32-inch screen of the 32lm550bpva features HD Ready (1366x768) resolution.

But, because a 1080p TV display have more than two times the screen resolution of a 720p TV display, therefore, and despite its bigger size, the 43lm5500pva display is slightly sharper than that of the 32lm550bpva display. Though, you won't really notice the difference in their screen sharpness unless you place them side by side.
Meanwhile, like other HD Ready and Full-HD TVs, each of these TVs readily accept 1080p contents and signals from the 1080p sources such as Blu-Ray players, game consoles and TV decoders.

Video And Audio Processing:
Unlike the Smart models that come with quad-core processors and support for the image processing features such as HDR10 and HLG, both 43lm5500pva and 32lm550bpva are powered by the single-core processors. And, except for the presence of Dynamic Colour Enhancer and Noise Reduction, most of other picture enhancements, like the aforementioned ones, are missing on this TV models.

The lack of those image processing features implies that the displays of both TVs may not be able to render colours and pictures that are vibrant or rich enough like those of the Smart models, or those of Smart TVs from the other leading TV brands. I said leading TV brands, because compared to many Smart TVs in the market today, these basic LG TVs still have better picture qualities than majority of them.

Furthermore, each of these TVs also features 10W speakers, instead of 20W speakers that often accompanied Smart models. Though there are few ones among the smart models, especially within the 32-inch variants (e.g 32lm630bpvb), that also have 10W speakers.

43lm5500pva and 32lm550bpva speakers are loud enough to fill your living-room, but, because their speakers are powered by the Dolby audio engine, instead of the DTX Virtual: X like those of the Smart models, 43lm5500pva and 32lm550bpva sound may not be as clear or pleasant as those of the Smart models.

They Lack Smart Features:
Because these are basic TVs, both of them are running on the stripped down version of the LG WebOS. This means unlike their Smart brothers, both 43lm5500pva and 32lm550bpva have no Web browser or AI features such as Voice Search or Voice Recognition. These TVs also don't have wireless connectivities such as built-in Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
