Of all the varaints of the recent unveiled Infinix Note 12 series, Infinix Note 12i (X6819) is the cheapest. This is followed by the standard Note 12 or Infinix Note 12 G88.
Infinix Note 12i attract lower price than the standard Note 12 because the main selling features of the standard variant have been downgraded on the phone.

For instance, and unlike that of the standard variant that's fitted with an AMOLED panel, the display of the Note 12i comes with an IPS-LCD panel. Also compared to the 16-megapixel front facing camera of the Note 12, the front-facing camera of the Note 12i has an 8-megapixel sensor. The 33W fast charging of the of standard phone has also been reduced to 18W on the Note 12i. The standard phone also looks different and has a better build quality than this stripped variant.

However, as i said before, those aforementioned features are what make Note 12 to attract a little higher price than the Note 12i. Because all other features of the standard variant are also present on the Note 12i. For instance, Infinix Note 12i retains the 50-megapixel triple rear camera, 5000mAh battery, USB Type-C port, dual speaker, and side-mounted fingerprint reader of the standard phone.

The processing power and storage configuration of the Note 12i are also similar to those of the Note 12. Though, Infinix Note 12i is powered by the Helio G85 CPU, compared to the Helio G88 CPU of the standard Note 12, but both of these MediaTek processors are technically (and practically) the same. Infinix Note 12i also maintain the 4GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage of the standard phone. Even unlike the standard phone that's pre-installed with Android 11 OS, Infinix Note 12i is pre-installed with a more recent Android 12 OS.

Meanwhile, apart from having a less impressive features and lower build quality than the Note 12, Infinix Note 12i also look slightly different from the standard model, and the rest of its siblings.
Firstly, and despite having an IPS-LCD panel, Infinix Note 12i has a bigger screen size of 6.82-inch, while the AMOLED display of the Note 12i has a less bigger size of 6.7-inch. Also unlike that of the standard Note that has a U-shape notch, Infinix Note 12i display features a camera cut-out (or Infinity-O). And different from the 20:9 or wide aspect ratio of Infinix Note 12, Infinix Note 12i has a tall aspect ratio of 20.5:9.

In fact, instead of its sibling, Infinix Note 12i shares looks with another Infinix phone, Infinix Hot 12 (X6817). Not only that, it also packed almost all components and features (mentioned above) of the Hot phone.

In details, Infinix Note 12i has the same design and the same 6.82-inch Infinity-O display as the Hot 12. The screen of the Note 12i also features the same 720p resolution and support 90hz screen refresh rate like that of the Hot phone. All other features of the Note 12i (stated above) such as Android OS version, CPU, RAM, inbuilt storage, battery capacity, USB Type-C port, fasting charging, front-facing camera, even dual-speaker, are exactly like those of the Hot 12.

In fact, the difference between the two phones lies in their rear camera set-ups. While the Infinix Hot 12 is fitted with a 13-megapixel triple rear camera, Infinix Note 12i is equipped with a much better 50-megapixel triple-rear camera. Besides that, there is nothing else again.
Therefore, to me, Infinix Note 12i (X6819) is the same phone as the Infinix Hot 12 (X6817), but with better rear camera.

Price And Design Colours:
The current price of the Infinix Note 12i is around 91,000 naira. And it's available in two colour options of Force Black and Snowfall.

Note 12i Design: It Looks More Like The Hot 12 Than its Siblings.
Design-wise, the only thing that Infinix Note 12i has in common with the standard Note 12 (and the rest of its siblings) is the large rectangular-shape bump. Which occupies entire upper part of the phone back cover. Besides that, there is nothing else, physically, to associate this phone with other variants of the Note 12. Though, as i mentioned, Note 12i also features a 50-megapixel main rear sensor like standard Note 12 and the better equipped Note 12 G96.

On the other hand, it's the same rectagular-shape camera bump that distinguished Infinix Note 12i from the Infinix Hot 12. Otherwise, and as i said earlier, both of the Infinix Note 12i and Hot 12 looks exactly alike.
Apart from having the same looks, screen size, and aspect ratio as the Hot 12, Infinix Note 12i also retain the number of ports and buttons of the Hot phone. The ports and buttons are also arranged in a similar manner.

You have the volume keys and power button (which also doubles as fingerprint reader) on the right edge of the phone, while its dual nano SIM+microSD card slot is located on the left edge. There is nothing on the top egde of this phone too, because its 3.5mm audio jack, mouthpiece, USB Type-C port, and primary speaker are also concentrated on the bottom edge. The Note 12i's second speaker, like that of the Hot 12, is also placed above the selfie camera.

Although, the large rectagular bump is the main thing that can be used to distinguish Note 12i from the Hot 12, the Note phone can also be differentiate from the Hot 12 by its patterned back cover, compared to plain back cover of the Hot 12. Still both of them sports glossy finish.

A Big Nice Looking Display:
The 6.82-inch IPS-LCD screen of the Note 12i features a 720p resolution of 1640x720, or a pixel density (sharpness) of 262ppi.
Though the screen is not as sharp (or as clear) as the 1080p (393ppi) AMOLED screen of the standard Note 12, neither as colourful. But unlike that of the standard phone, the screen of the Note 12i support 90hz refresh rate. Which brings about smoother page scrolling and animation.

Also, except for the impressive ones like those of the Tecno Camon 19 (ci6) and Camon 19 Pro (ci8), the IPS-LCD screen of the Note 12i (and that of the Hot 12) is one of the few nice-looking displays that are available at this price point, and with all the phone features.
Compared to an average IPS-LCD 720p display, pictures appear more vivid on the Note 12i display. Colours also look slightly more richer.
However, the brightness level on this screen is not really on the high side, just like that of the Hot 12. Though it's really bright enough for most lighting conditions, but it won't impress you under direct sunlight.

A Good Rear Camera:
Like that of the standard Note 12, the 50-megapixel triple-rear camera of the Note 12i also comprises of a 50-megapixel main sensor, 2-megapixel Depth sensor (For portrait pictures or pictures with Bokeh effect or blur backgrounds), and a QVGA sensor.
As a result of their similar camera set-up, the shots from the rear camera of the Note 12i look almost like those of the standard Note 12. In fact, for a phone at this price point, photos from the rear camera of the Note 12i look really nice. But the Night Mode shots seems to be over-processed (exposed) and a little saturated.

And despite the fact that the 8-megapixel front camera of the Note 12i is lower than the 16-megapixel one on the standard model, it was able to deliver a clear and nice-looking selfies. Colours look good and satisfactory. In short, the selfies from this phone look better than those of other entry-level phones with similar 8-megapixel front-facing cameras.

Meanwhile, both the front and rear cameras of the Infinix Note 12i can shoot 2k videos at 30fps (frame per second).

Similar Processing Power, Even, Recent Software:
As i said earlier, Infinix Note 12i is equipped with the same processing power as the standard Note 12. The phone is even running on a more recent and better Android software than the standard model. Because while the standard phone retain the Android 11 OS of its predecessor, i.e., Infinix Note 11, Infinix Note 12i comes out-of-the-box with Android 12 0S.

Also despite that Helio G88 CPU, that's inside Note 12, sounds better than the Helio G85 that comes with this phone, the two CPUs are technically and practically the same. Because both of them are 12nm octa-core processors with the same maximum clock speed of 2.0Ghz. Both of them also features Mali-G52 GPU. Not to forget that the two phones have 4GB of RAMs and 128GB internal storage capacities.

Also like its sibling, the performance of the Note 12i can be boosted through MemFusion. MemFusion enables you to convert certain amount of your phone internal storage space to Virtual RAM. In the case of Note 12i, MemFusion enables you to convert up to 3GB of free space (out of the phone's inbuilt storage) to RAM. Thereby, allowing you to increase the 4GB of RAM of the phone up to 7GB.

Same Battery As The Note 12, But Lower Fast Charging:
Though Infinix Note 12i packed 5000mAh battery and features USB Type-C port like the standard Note 12, yet the phone support a lower 18W fast charging, compared to the 33W fast charging of the standard variant.
And with the phone's out-of-the-box 18W fast charger, it'll take you a little over two hours to fully charge Note 12i battery when it drops to zero percent.
