This is an entry-level android phone from Infinix Mobility. And it's also the least equipped variant of the recently unveiled Infinix Hot 12 series. Others in the series are Infinix Hot 12, Infinix Hot 12 Pro and Infinix Hot 12 Play.
Compared to the rest, Infinix Hot 12i comes with a less powerful CPU, a slightly smaller display, and microUSB port. As a result, the phone attract a little lower price.

Talking about its looks, there is nothing unusual or refreshing about the Hot 12i design. Because the phone has a regular shape or form factor, and it also sports a 6.6-inch drop-notched 720p display; which is common among the recent entry-level android phones. However, the 720p display of the Hot 12i has a different HD+ resolution and a distinct aspect ratio. Videos and pictures also look better on this screen.

Also, in spite of its lower price and slightly smaller size, Infinix Hot 12i still shares camera specs the Hot 12 Play (and Infinix Hot 12). Because the phone also has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera and a 13-megapixel dual rear camera (triple-camera in case of the Hot 12) like the Hot 12 Play.

Under the hood however, Infinix Hot 12i is fitted with a less stronger Helio A22 CPU, and it's also running on the previous version of Infinix XOS, alongside Android 11 OS. Yet, the phone basically has 4GB of RAM like its siblings, and it also features 64GB internal storage capacity like their base models.
Still, unlike its brothers, Infinix Hot 12i present the buyers with lower RAM options of 2GB and 3GB. And each of the 2GB and 3GB RAM options is still paired with the same 64GB internal storage capacity as the 4GB RAM option.
Furthermore, like its brothers, Infinix Hot 12i also comes with recent RAM expansion feature called MemFusion. With MemFusion, the amount of default RAM on the Hot 12i, let's say 3GB for example, can be increased up to 6GB.

Meanwhile, Infinix Hot 12i is equipped with 5000mAh battery, and it doesn't support fast charging. And as i stated earlier, Infinix Hot 12i comes with MicroUSB port, unlike its siblings that feature USB Type-C port.

Price And Design Colours:
Infinix Hot 12i is available in various colour options of Racing Black, Horizon Blue, Haze Green, And Champagne Gold.
Currently, the price of the 2GB/64GB model of the phone is about 82,000 Naira. While the 3GB/64GB and 4GB/64GB models attract slightly higher price of about 89,000 Naira and 93,000 Naira respectively.

DESIGN: Infinix Hot 12i Is An Average Looking Phone:
Weighing about 195g and measuring 164.8x76.4x8.8mm, there's no much difference between the design of the Hot 12i and those of others in this category. Firstly, the drop-notch display of the phone has the same size and aspect ratio as those of the Infinix Smart 6 Plus, Tecno Spark 9 (kg5p), and a few others in this segment. As a result, the front of the Hot 12i looks like that of any other entry-level android phone.

While the front of the Hot 12i looks like those of the Spark 9 and Smart 6 Plus, the back of the phone sports a different design pattern.
Though, the design pattern still looks familiar, nonetheless, Hot 12i has a unique and premium-looking camera bump; which gives the back of the phone a distinct looks.

Also compared to many other in this segment, Infinix Hot 12i has a better build quality. And it also fitted with a better display (more on this later)

Infinix-hot-12i-x665/x665b
Still like others at this price point, Infinix Hot 12i comes with a single speaker. And the speaker is placed on the bottom edge of the phone, alongside the MicroUSB port, microphone and 3.5mm audio jack.
Also as usual, the phone's power button and volume keys are placed on its right edge. While its dual Nano SIM+SD card slot (and tray) is located on its left edge. There is nothing on the top edge of the Infinix Hot 12i.

6.6-inch 720p Display:
Infinix Hot 12i shares display properties with the likes of Tecno Spark 8c, Infinix Smart 6 Plus, Tecno Spark 9 and Spark 9T (kh6). Besides having the same 6.6-inch size as those phones', the display of the Hot 12i also has an IPS-LCD panel, and it also features the same 1612x720 resolution (268ppi) and the same 20.15 aspect ratio.

Pictures, videos, and colours also look good on this screen, though the ones on the Spark 9 and Spark 9T appears slightly more vivid.
Although, the picture qualities of the Hot 12i display vary, just like ones on the Infinix Smart 6 Series. And this is as a result of its different RAM options,
The higher the price, or the RAM (in case of Hot 12i), the slightly brighter the screen. If you place the 2GB RAM model and 3GB RAM model side by side, you'll notice that there's a slight difference in their screen brightness. The difference become more glaring, if you place the 2GB RAM model beside the 4GB RAM model.
Note: Increasing the phone's RAM through MemFusion can't alter the subtle differences in screen picture qualities. I think the picture quality is according to the default RAM installed.

Decent Camera:
Infinix Hot 12i has a single-lens front camera and a dual-lens rear camera. And just like the ones on the Hot 12 and Hot 12 Play, the single-lens front camera of the Hot 12i has an 8-megapixel sensor, and the primary rear camera of the phone also has a 13-megapixel sensor.

Therefore, when it comes to sharpness or detail, there is no much difference between the shots from the Hot 12i cameras and those from the Hot 12 and Hot 12 Play cameras. But the ones from the bigger phones, especially Hot 12, have a slightly better HDR, and the skin tone also look slightly better. Still, you have to compare them, and really look enough, to notice this difference.
And the video recordings, for both the front and rear cameras of the Infinix Hot 12i are also capped at 1080p, 30fps (frame per second).

Processing Power:
While the Infinix Hot 12 and a few others like Tecno Spark 9 are running on a more recent Android 12 OS, Infinix Hot 12i and Hot 12 Play are preloaded with Android 11 OS.
Even, despite having the same Android 11 OS as the Hot 12 Play, Infinix Hot 12i XOS Skin is older than that of the slightly bigger phone.
In other words, while the Hot 12 Play features the same XOS 10v custom UI like the Hot 12 and Hot 12 Pro, Infinix Hot 12i, on the other hand, comes with previous Infinix XOS 7.6v custom UI on top of its Android 11 OS.
As a result, and despite having the same Android OS, the Quick Menu panel of the Hot 12i is different from the one of the Hot 12 Play.
Also, while the Infinix Hot 12 and Hot 12 Play are powered by the Helio G85 CPU and Helio G35 CPU respectively, Infinix Hot 12i is fitted with a slightly older and less powerful Helio A22 CPU.
MediaTek Helio A22 is a 12nm quad-core processor, with a maximum clock speed of 2.0Ghz. And, for its graphics related tasks, Hello A22 is fitted with PowerVR-GE8320 GPU (Graphics Processing Unit).

Although all the three RAM options (2GB, 3GB, and 4GB) of the Infinix Hot 12i are fitted with the same Helio A22 CPU, when it comes to processing speed and graphics performance, the 2GB of RAM option or model (X665) is not as swift as the 3GB and 4GB of RAM models (X665B). Still, the performance of all the three models can be boosted through MemFusion.

MemFusion enables you to convert certain amount of your phone internal storage space to Virtual RAM. In other words, and in case of 4GB/64GB model of the Hot 12i, MemFusion enables you to convert up to 3GB of free space (out of the phone's inbuilt storage) to RAM. Therefore, allowing you to extend the 4GB of RAM of the phone up to 7GB.
In the same manner, you can increase the RAM of 3GB/64GB model up to 6GB. Unfortunately, however, you can't increase the RAM of 2GB/64GB model more than 4GB.
By the way, all the three models' 64GB internal storage space can be expanded, via microSD card, up to 256GB.

5000mAh Battery, And No Fast Charging:
Like most of others at this price point, Infinix Hot 12i comes with 5000mAh battery and MicroUSB port. The phone also lack support for fast charging.
Therefore, with its standard out-of-the-box 10W charger, it'll take about three and half to fully charge Infinix Hot 12i battery when it drops to one percent.
